By adding several new models to its offering, The Switch, a Finnish-based technology company, is the first company to provide a complete portfolio of permanent magnet based generator packages specifically designed for maximized wind power generation.

The latest additions include an outer rotor generator, a modern-style 2.5 MW drive train, and a double-fed option.

The Switch establishes service presence in North America trough agreement with Magnetech

Effective April 1, 2009, The Switch entered an agreement with Magnetech Industrial Services, Inc. (MIS) for the servicing of wind turbines in North America. Magnetech is a leader in the repair, remanufacture and maintenance of commercial and industrial electro-mechanical equipment.

Wind turbines are among some of the many types of heavy equipment in which Magnetech is specialized, providing comprehensive up-tower and in-shop services for wind turbine equipment.

The Switch wins new orders from established customers in Norway, China, expands presence in off-shore wind production and Asian wind power markets

Repeat orders for its wind-power generation components from key Norwegian and Chinese accounts position The Switch, with its cutting-edge permanent magnet generator and full-power converter package, for a strong 2009.

The new agreement calls for The Switch to provide ScanWind with drive train packages that combine a direct-drive 4.25 MW permanent magnet generator with a full-power converter to be used in offshore wind turbine development efforts. In Asia, repeat orders from customers in China call for nearly one gigawatt of additional production, more than doubling The Switch’s production capacity overall.
