The Switch

Reijo Takala

Vice President, Wind power

“We can do this!”

Reijo Takala strongly believes that wind power is the way forward. Simply the lack of finite energy resources along with environmental and political pressure from all different directions is making wind power more viable. This, coupled with his own long industrial experience in power electronics, gives him good reason to be very optimistic about The Switch moving forward as a leader.

Reijo has been most impressed by the company’s ability to grow so fast. “The challenges are big enough, but I see the possibility,” he states. He feels that many of the accomplishments already made by The Switch have proven that the people of the company can do it. He enjoys the team: “Work is fun!” And this in itself gives him the stimulus to take on the challenges as they appear.

Reijo Takala received a master’s degree in science from the Tampere University of Technology in 1984. During his studies, he worked in frequency converter development at ABB in Vaasa. Later he continued working for ABB as Design Engineer for totally 7 years. In 1990, he moved to Jyväskylä where he worked over the course of the next 12 years in various positions at Enermet Oy, an energy metering company. From Development Engineer, he went on to become R&D Director, General Manager of the Jyväskylä Works from 1998 to 2000, and Business Area Director for metering devices until beginning of 2002. In 2003, he was nominated as Managing Director of Verteco, and simultaneously was one of the key players to start The Switch.
