The Switch

Jukka Rantanen

Vice president, Electrical machines

“Serving customers with results.”

Being outdoors all year-round is leisure-time enjoyment that Jukka shares with his wife and two children. Jukka finds himself heavily involved in  boating in summer and skiing downhill or cross-country in winter. And this same type of full involvement keeps Jukka enthusiastic about his new role at The Switch as of November 2009.

“The Switch is a young company, and quite often we need to build up things along the way,” Jukka says. Still, at all times the company’s future depends on how well is keeps its promises to customers. “We’re all here because of our customers,” he states clearly. So, serving customers is a top priority for him and his role of overseeing the Lappeenranta unit.

One of the reasons Jukka is pleased to accept new responsibilities at The Switch in an industry in which he had no former experience is that it offered him the possibility to truly achieve something unique or extraordinary: “I’m intrigued with this company that has achieved so much in such a short period of time. I want to see that my actions lead to results for the company as a whole – along its path of becoming a successful international corporation.”

Jukka will be responsible for leading the Lappeenranta unit and will help develop and promote The Switch drive train package. This includes cooperation and joint development with the other company units, customers and partners.

Jukka Rantanen graduated in 1999 with a Master of Science in automotive engineering from the University of Hertfordshire in the UK. His professional career started the same year at Nokia Networks, where he worked with different product programs as well as with sourcing, production and logistic operations. In early 2005, he transferred to Foxconn, the world’s largest contract manufacturer of electronics. His responsibility spanned company operations in Finland for all customer and delivery-related tasks. He joined The Switch at the end of 2009 and was appointed to be a member of the Management team in spring of 2010.
